Honda Gold Wing Rivals GWM Eight-Cylinder Motorcycle, Taking It Up a Notch.

When it comes to high-performance bikes, the Honda Gold Wing sticks out because to its powerful 1,833cc six-cylinder engine. Great Wall Motor (GWM), a well-known Chinese automaker, has noticed what they believe to be a crucial error in Honda’s design—the number of cylinders. According to new patent filings that Cycle World has uncovered, GWM is preparing to unveil a more potent competitor—an eight-cylinder wonder.

Honda chose a six-cylinder configuration, while GWM’s ambitious proposal has an eight-cylinder engine—not a V8, as some may have assumed. Rather, it has a flat-eight arrangement. This configuration is similar to the Gold Wing’s but has two more cylinders, increasing the engine’s displacement by around 200cc. With this improvement, the overall displacement approaches 2,000cc, which is still less than the enormous 2,458cc of the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm, but still represents a notable power increase.

GWM improves the engineering by using a dual-overhead-camshaft design, which doubles up from the Gold Wing’s single overhead cam configuration, rather than merely adding additional cylinders. The revolutionary design of the Gold Wing is also mirrored in the new motorbike, which maintains the bike’s small size by placing the transmission underneath the engine block. A complex cooling system with a separate radiator for each cylinder bank and a dual-clutch semi-automatic gearbox are also highly anticipated.

By using a comparable cast-aluminum frame construction and a girder fork up front, the chassis design further resembles that of the Honda. Although only the tourer variant has made a semi-public debut thus far, Cycle World also suggests that this powerful 2,000cc flat-eight engine may power a cruiser-style motorbike in addition to the tourer type.

The social media video that GWM’s billionaire owner, Wei Jianjun, shared provided this fascinating look. Motorcyclists and industry observers were intrigued and excited by the motorcycle’s partial visibility against the backdrop.

The name of this new motorbike is still unknown, despite the fact that GWM is well-known for classifying its automotive goods under several trademarks, such as Tank or Haval for SUVs and Ora for electric cars. Nonetheless, the almost finished bike shown in the social media teaser implies that a formal unveiling may be approaching quickly.

With this audacious step, GWM is daring to reinvent the norms of luxury touring bikes in addition to growing its product portfolio. Motorcyclists, get ready! The competition has significantly increased in interest.
